I posted a while ago about Leah's love for her tie-dye shirt. It is for sentimental reasons- her little friend Rose has a tie-dyed shirt. Well, the shirt Leah has isn't really very pretty, it has gotten really stretched out, and it is looking a little shorter every time she wears it! In light of the fact that she just got rid of her paci did something we are all proud of (don't want to be judged here!), I told her I'd let her tie dye her own shirt. She was beside herself!

tie-dye girl
happy birthday andrew!
Andrew turned nine! This boy who is known for his smile celebrated his special day in lots of fun ways. He began his day in NH with his cousins. He had spent the weekend there and was able to have an awesome morning complete with a breakfast sandwich made by big sis Brianna. She made it just the way he loves it.
He made it home in time to go out to lunch with Mom and Dad. The Golden Corral was the place of his choice. He had never been before and had never even seen a buffet- besides at home ;) He was amazed!
And, could a birthday get even better? Cotton Candy! Sweet sugar heaven!
He totally has the coolest mom ever. Each "candle" represented 3 years of his precious life. (ummm....must have used up the rest of the candles with the last birthday. oops!)
Nerf~
Each child's birthday makes me stop and remember the circumstances surrounding their birth. I remember it well. During labor Drew decided to flip into a breech position so the doctor had to do an inversion. Fun. Thankfully it worked- the alternative was a c-section. It was not an easy labor and finally it came to a point where Matt tried to convince the doctor that I was in transition and it would be any moment. She wouldn't listen though- she had already decided that it would be hours before the baby came. When I told her something felt very strange she reluctantly agreed to check things out. Imagine my terror when she screamed! True story. Baby Andrew was lying on the bed. One point for dad, minus one for the doctor!
It has been an amazing nine years with this full of life, sweet, thankful, sensitive boy. Happy Birthday to our wonderful son!

leah
The sickness continues..... this time it is Leah's turn to have pneumonia. We are such a sharing family! We have been sharing sick germs since August. I let Caleb go longer before taking him to the doctor and by the time he was diagnosed, he was in pretty rough shape. So with Leah, as soon as the fever came back and the cough turned, I knew I had to get her in before she got worse. She needed a nebulizer treatment in the office. She didn't like it, but she was a good sport.
Leah is so precious! She told me she wants me to buy her "one of these" for Christmas. "One of these" would be the gown she is wearing. She's pretty sure it could work as a nice dress :) She asked me how many nurses she had seen and I told her three. Two nurses and a doctor. Her face lit up and she said, "That's plus! Two plus one is three!" Although it is sad seeing her sick, I really enjoyed all the time I spent with her today. Just the two of us. She is a ray of sunshine~

playing (and working) in the snow
Everyone was excited about the snow. Even Micah! Brianna was wonderful enough to take him out to play for a few minutes. It probably took longer to get him ready to go out than he actually stayed out!
It wasn't all fun and games.... These two were outside for hours shoveling. Great exercise but so exhausting!

blizzard
I was just saying that we needed a good snow storm- well, I got my wish! I am not sure if all the exact requirements were met for this to be a genuine blizzard, but they are saying it came really close!
When I got up this morning, I went onto the porch and opened the door and this is what I saw.
...and that is what accumulated (or was blown by the wind) since 2:00am. I love the imprint of the door :) Matt and Cameron were trying to keep on top of the shoveling and so they went out a few times during the day on Friday and then through the night as well.
Since we were without a vehicle for a couple of days, some friends of ours who are are on vacation right now (good timing to be in Florida!) let us borrow their car. Hope we don't need to get anywhere quick! Well, actually, even if we could get out we would be in big trouble if we drove on the road. There is a travel ban in effect! As of this morning, it has not been lifted.
This is the girls' bedroom window.
The boys' bedroom window.
The pile of Matt's and Cameron's things they dropped on the floor next to the door when they came in from shoveling late last night.
I have so missed the snow. I know there are plenty of people who don't like it, but I am not one of them. I. LOVE. THIS!
And just because I am not a fan of posts that don't have pictures of people in them, I will include this one of Leah sound asleep this morning. Poor little girl has a nasty cough and a fever to go with it, but at least she was able to get some sleep.

awana quizzing
Caleb and Andrew have been practicing for weeks for AWANA quizzing. The big night finally came. We were a little worried when last week Caleb was diagnosed with pneumonia, but with lots of prayer and care he was hardly coughing at all for Saturday night's competition. They were pretty excited and nervous when we got to the church where quizzing was held!
By the end of the night Andrew came out with a third place ribbon and Caleb had the first place overall ribbon. A lot of work went into this and we are proud of both of them. Learning God's Word is never a waste of time!

leah and daddy time
AWANA night is an extra special night for Leah because she gets to spend special time with Daddy. Last night they played flannel graph together- and it made Leah so happy! :)
