Mr Matt

All our HFK kids call him "Mr. Matt".....and they love him!

never too old for rocks, paper, scissors, shoot!

happy birthday alissa!

Sweet Sixteen.  I never thought my 5lb 5oz baby girl would be 16.

Here she is about 4 months before she was born~

A cold winter Sunday in January.... "a good day for a birthday!" my doctor said!

Alissa had a couple of friends over and we had a birthday celebration.  She is so easy to please!

It wasn't a pretty day outside, but it was perfect inside.

Matt and I took her out for lunch- her choice of restaurants.  She chose Chipotle!

Alissa is the sweetest girl.  She has a heart for others, a heart for God, wants to make people happy, and is one of the most unselfish people I know.  She was a gift from God to our aching hearts 16 years ago and still is a most precious gift.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Alissa!  We love you

interskate 91

The kids were so excited when they each opened a gift on Christmas morning that contained a "clue".  The put it together and found out what Miss Bethany had planned for us!  She came over this past Tuesday to take us out.  It was family night at the rollerskating rink.

We ALL had so much fun!  Who knew I could still rollerskate....at my old age?! I was on the floor for an hour straight (and didn't fall once, I might add!)!  We played laser tag, had all you could eat pizza, and Micah spent almost the entire time on the giant play place.  We had such a great time and made sweet memories.

Thank you, Bethany- you are the best!!

nana

It was a real treat to have Nana over for a few days after Christmas.  The kids got spoiled!  How fun to play games, talk about prophecy, go out for pizza, do hair and nails, and tell stories!  The visit went by way too quickly.

nh christmas

It was so nice having the whole family together for a Christmas visit.  Something I really appreciated!

useless and unfruitful

So what happens when everyone seems to be reflecting back on the year with nostalgia and looking forward to the year ahead with new goals all in place,- and all you can think of is the areas you FAILED in over the year and have NO idea how you are going to correct it for the upcoming year?

Well, Matt sent me to a quiet place to get alone with God and work things through.

I opened my Bible and read the first verse I saw.
Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  2 Peter 1:3

Amazing.

God used that verse to assure me that HE will give me all I need in order to accomplish anything that pertains to life and godliness!  (which pretty much covers it all!)

How?  Through the true knowledge of Him.

I read ahead to verses 5-8.  Apparently, if I diligently apply the following things to my life:

I will be neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Really?  That means that as long as I do that, I can look forward to a useful and fruitful year ahead.
Happy New Year!

random thoughts

So I've been doing a lot of thinking.  And resting.  And praying.  And reflecting. I can't believe I am a grandmother- with two mo...
