mother-daughter date
Alissa and I went out for some alone time the other day. It was much needed! We found an adorable crepes place and had an amazing breakfast! We went makeup shopping also and had the BEST time together! I am so blessed to have her for my daughter <3
micah update
I took Micah to the orthopedist to follow up on his ER visit. Turns out, he has a buckle fracture. He fractured his radius and his ulna. There are 2 breaks in the radius- a horizontal one as well as a vertical one the extends into his growth plate. He got a cool red cast that will be on for a month. After that, he will have a splint and will also have to be xrayed occasionally to check the situation with the growth plate. We are praying it won't be an issue and that things will heal quickly and correctly.
He is a real trooper! He is back up and running...literally!

poor micah
Last night right before dinner, Micah and Leah were playing in the basement. I had just cleaned and vacuumed down there and they loved the clean open space.
Suddenly I heard Micah start to cry. It was the kind of cry that made me know I needed to get down there right away- something was wrong. By the time I got there he was just screaming "Help me!" over and over. Then it turned into "This is an eMERgency!" Apparently he had climbed his way to the pull-up bar hanging in one of the doorways. He had thought ahead to put a pillow underneath it and once he got up to the bar he started swinging and then jumped. He missed the pillow and fell backwards. He tried to break his fall with his hands.
Matt and I took him to the ER after Cameron splinted his arm. By the end of the night it was determined that he had broken his wrist. Poor boy. He had a rough night in bed too- couldn't sleep much because of the pain and discomfort of the temporary cast they put on him.
He will see an orthopedist next week and will get a real cast then.
Micah has a road ahead of him. Once the doctor told us Micah had a broken bone, Micah turned to Matt and said, "Oh no! That's my good throwing arm!" So cute :) He will learn to use his other arm and this will one day just be part of his story.

It was a very difficult ride for Micah to the ER. There were lots of bumps on the road and he was in a lot of pain. When we got there he began to panic and said to Matt, "I'm scared, Daddy! I've never been here before." Matt so calmly and reassuringly answered, "I have been here before, and I won't leave you."
Even as that short conversation took place it hit me. How many times am I afraid in life because something is so new and scary- and I'm hurt to boot! God can confidently say to me, "I have already been here. And I will never leave you." Micah's fears were calmed when he realized he could trust his daddy. Mine should be too knowing that I can trust my heavenly father.
