I learned a lot this year about gardening. I learned as much what NOT to do as TO do! Some of the things I planted weren't planted early enough, some I planted too much of, and others not enough. Even with all my mistakes, I LOVE my garden! It was a place where I could find quiet, talk to God, see results, spend time with my little ones, and get tons of analogies on how gardening, planting, weeding, tending etc all relate to life and God.
I am not kidding when I say we got about two hundred cucumbers from just six plants! I accidentally planted giant pumpkins and they probably would have gotten bigger if the hail hadn't ruined the leaves. Caleb had to roll one of them out of the garden and down the hill to get it to the house. It is heavy!
By far, my favorite things to harves have been the potatoes. I had Caleb, Drew, Leah, and Micah with me and we all felt like we had found buried treasure!
Along with the fruits and veggies pictured, I had broccoli, onions, snap peas, cantaloupe, lettuce, and red peppers.
I may come to love summer after all :)
