I am so thankful for my daughter-in-law. I would have been even more afraid and unsure if it wasn't for Cameron marrying the sweetest and godliest girl he could possibly marry! I'm still learning and figuring out my role now, but I am truly grateful for the relationship I have with Cameron.
When I realized that I was going to be a part of a mother-son dance, I panicked. I had no idea what song to choose. I listened to lots of songs, but none really described what I was feeling. So- I wrote my own!
I remember when they said it's a boy
Daddy could hardly contain his joy!
You came on your due date, the 20th of June
I had no idea you'd grow up so soon.
CHORUS:
You captured my heart with your mischievous smile
With snuggles and kisses, my sweet little child
One year, two years, three years, then four
You rode your tricycle fast, raced cars on the floor
Five years, six, seven, those years were so fun!
With your coonskin cap and Old Betsy your gun.
I'd still sing you to sleep every chance I would get
"Tickle my back, mommy!", things haven't changed yet!
CHORUS
Eight, nine, and ten, those adventurous days-
Playing football with dad, catching frogs, dreading "May".
Eleven, twelve, thirteen, the dingy, the derk
Lots of talks, many prayers, and I watched God at work
Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen oh my!
The classics, and Latin, EMS, Larry Blythe
CHORUS (teenage child)
Seventeen, eighteen, are you really a man?
Loving God and His Word seeking His perfect plan.
And at nineteen it happened, you met her, that girl
The one Dad and I'd prayed for, she set your heart in a whirl.
CHORUS:
She captured your heart with her beautiful smile
And promised to love you my sweet grown up child
Now twenty and here we stand on the floor
Pretending to dance and laughing I'm sure
My heart is still captured with you, my grown son. And your bride my new daughter has my heart also won.
Now it's your turn to do what dad's modeled for you
Love her, lead her, care for her too.
She's a gift God has given, a treasure that's rare.
So cover her always with sincere, heartfelt prayer.
No words can describe my love for my boy. Through the years you have brought me so much joy. I will never stop loving or praying for you.
CHORUS: (married child)
I couldn't be more proud of and happy for Cameron. And I couldn't be happier with my new daughter!
