skills and hobbies workshop- hope for kids

Hope for Kids put on a special event last Saturday for kids that live in shelters in the city.  The day consisted of breakfast, lunch, games, Bible time, and 2 workshops (they each got to choose 2).  The workshop options were: painting, beauty, baking, wiffle ball, soccer, photography, agility, and crafts.  We had 47 kids and 35 volunteers! The kids loved it!!  The volunteers were great!

One amazing thing was that a local pastor had just heard about Hope for Kids and decided to come to the event and observe.  It turns out that his church has a huge heart to reach the kids in the city- in fact they used to do a lot more of it, but didn't have the volunteers to maintain the ministry.  He was so excited about what he saw that this week he called Matt and arranged a meeting with him.  The end result was that his church GAVE Hope for Kids a bus and a 15 passenger van!!!  Also, pending a meeting with the congregation after Matt shares the ministry one Sunday this month, we will have use of their 25,000 square foot facility in the city to use each Saturday for our "church" services for the kids.  God is AMAZING.  There are more behind the scenes details that led up to his pastor being there, and it all points to God's sovereignty and the fact that He is at work.

I was especially thankful that my family (Dad, Mom, Adam, Rachelle, AJ, and Riley) all drove two and a half hours from NH to work at this event.  They are such examples of selfess service!  They got nothing in return (maybe a headache??) but did it for the Lord and for the kids.  I am blessed to be a part of such a family!
