labor day 2018

This year we started a new Labor Day tradition!  We all met at Quabbin Reservoir and had lunch together and then a fun time of play!  It was wayyyyy hotter than we would have liked it to be, but there was breeze and in the shade it was quite nice.
Elijah charmed us all with his smiles and laughs :)

There was soccer and some football, rock skipping, snake hunting, tower climbing, picture taking, fantasy football talking, and memory making.

I'm so thankful that God allowed my whole family to be together this year for Labor Day.  I feel very blessed.

  1. Love seeing all these happy- family pictures!💕so glad you had a good day 😊

Alissa- Classical Conversations Challenge A

Alissa did Classical Conversations, Challenge A this year.  And a challenge it was!  She did 30 weeks of intense school work with lots of memorization, writing, drawing, learning, and reading.
Geography was a huge part of her year.  She learned how to draw the entire world from memory, label every country, and know each country's capital.  She also learned 154 geography terms and memorized their definitions.  Her final geo test was to take a blank piece of paper, fold it to make accurate lines of latitude and longitude (equator, prime meridian etc), draw the world, and label the countries.  She took a test on the capitals so her map wouldn't be so crowded.   She also did a final project.  Her first one didn't turn out like she wanted it to (the one below).

So, she decided to do one on canvas using watercolors.  Both were done from memory :)

Another thing she did was learn to draw from memory 10 different body systems.  She had to label each part of the system and do he…

Jeremiah and Alissa

Alissa has never not known Jeremiah.  He had just turned 3 when she was born.  He wasn't much interested in his best friend's baby sister at the time.  Too busy doing boy things.  By the time Alissa was old enough to walk and talk, she had no time for him.  His sister was her dearest friend and the only reason she wanted to see his family every week as we did for a very long time.

It didn't matter to me.  Every Thursday we'd see the Boulters and I was so glad to spend time with my closest friend that it was just a bonus that our kids got along so well.

When God called Jeremiah to our area to work with Hope for Kids I was excited that Cam would have his best friend close by.  God probably winked.
